The world is in an uproar it seems, and Occupy everything is the revolutionary flavor of the month. This now iconic accidental image of Elizabeth Nichols getting pepper sprayed by Portland, Oregon police may go down in history as the moment that gave the Occupy movement a face.

Some background on the picture, and Elizabeth Nichols is here.

Of course, this scene out of Davis University is just as iconic.

  • Herman Cain's New Campaign Ad Isn't Weird, Bizarre or Bonkers. Just Different. And Interesting.

Depends who you get your news from, but reviews for the new campaign ad by Herman Cain suggest it is either bonkers, weird or bizarre.

The Atlantic has an interesting perspective on the ad, and I'll withhold judgment until a follow up ad is released, because if there is a smart stategy behind taking such a risk on Cain's image, time will surely reveal it.

Update (10/31) - It's been a wild several days for Herman Cain, but kudos needs to be give to Jon Huntsman's daughters for coming up with a now viral takeoff ad on Cain's ad.

Slipping in the polls, but not down and out, Rick Perry fires a shot to Mitt Romney targeting 'Romneycare'.

Update: The Washington Times reports: "Mr. Romney's camp responded almost immediately, saying the ad used deceptive editing and showed the former frontrunner’s was “desperate” as Mr. Perry has sunk in the polls in recent weeks"

When a movie I really liked, still has me thinking 1 to 2 days after I've seen it, I'll classify it as a really good movie.

    Dirty politics gone Hollywood.

The Ides of March was a gripping, fun movie. George Clooney directed the movie, and stars in it, but this movie is really about Ryan Gosling's character 'Stephen Meyers', and his decisions, drive and integrity.

Mitt Romney delivered a foreign policy speech today in Charleston, SC.

    Excerpt below:

"This century must be an American Century. In an American Century, America has the strongest economy and the strongest military in the world. In an American Century, America leads the free world and the free world leads the entire world." Mitt Romney

With Intrade giving Romney a 61.5% chance (today) of winning the 2012 GOP Nomination, the above speech rings out like a potential vision of how America will view global challenges in the coming years.

Today's 9.1% unemloyment rate report only reinforces the above point.

    If you've just tuned in...

My internet writing style has evolved into a constant storyline. A life adventure, told through news, opinion, and personal experience, in both success and failure.

Working up to be a daily, or regular blogger can be challenging when not on a routine. Honestly, getting into that routine has been one of my two biggest writing challenges, and why this blog never quite found it's way over the last two years. Of course, the other reason is that microblogging service I still rave about.

What is it about Twitter again?

Simple. It's where the media, politicians, and national narrative collide, and unfolds into the talking points, debates, and battles that help shape America, and the world in the 21st century. Tune in to the right streams, and ride the wave of life, politics, and media, as told through the news.

On blogging, my evolving approach, as time allows, is moving towards a near daily blog, with multiple entries, in short to long bursts.

Getting there, slowly, but getting there.

Bo Sacks seems to think it is, and tweeted:

"I'm prepared to predict the death of facebook. It's lost its way & in oriental terms has no face. Over-commercialism & abuse will kill it"

Meanwhile, still no regets on turning off my Facebook account.

Twitter still rocks. Blogging feels good. The innovation of social media has pretty much run it's course. The excitement has passed, for most I'd argue.

What's left? Commercialism, endless status updates, writers posting solid content, and news. Notice I said 'news'?

News is a big part of the future of the internet. Always a need for news. Alas... Now Media News.

Give it some time. I'm patient.
